Joe Hornberger's Biography

Joe Hornberger, a 2002 alumni of Rice University, came on staff May 1st, 2006 as the North Houston Area Director.  While at Rice, Joe, a former walk-on to the football team, through hard work and determination earned a scholarship and a varsity letter in 2001 as a wide receiver.  During his tenure at Rice, Joe actively served in the school’s FCA huddle and participated in various FCA events and camps around the state.

Upon graduation, Joe left Rice for one year only to return as a Graduate Assistant coach for the Owls for the past three years, with the final two spent as the Tight Ends coach.  Joe also served as a huddle coach for the Rice University FCA huddle.

Serving the North Houston area, Joe assists coaches and students in the Klein, Spring, Tomball, Woodlands, and Magnolia areas with the development of their school Huddles, bible studies, and outreach events.  In addition to North Houston, Joe also ministers to the athletes and coaches at Rice University.

Recently married to the former Kelly Martinek of Friendswood, Texas, Joe, his wife, and his two dogs (a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd) currently live in Houston.

While each school possesses its own particular and specific needs, every area desperately needs Godly coaches who can exemplify the Christian life to the hundreds of students they impact each day.  Coupled with Christian students who actively live out their faith, such examples of Christ effectively serve to impact their campuses for Christ.  That being said, please pray for the following:

  • That God would raise up willing Christian coaches.
  • That God would raise up Godly students, determined to live out their faith.
  • That God would raise up donors to continue to provide the finances with which to fund our ministry.

May God continue to use us to help see North Houston impacted for Christ through the coaches, students, and parents of this area.
